Danny Boyle’s Slumnadog Millioire has become the fourth film along with Gandhi to get the highest number of Oscar awards. The film, which tracks the journey of an 18-year-old boy from rags-to-riches, won eight Oscars out of the 10 categories it was nominated for.
The flick has not only earned the Best Director gong for Danny Boyle, but also the Best Film award. It also bagged awards for Original score, Original song, Film Editing, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, and Best Sound Mixing.
Kate Winslet and Sean Penn walked away with the top honours for Best Actress and Actor for ‘The Reader’ and ‘Milk’ respectively.
Actor Health Ledger was honoured with the posthumous Oscar in the Supporting Actor for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Penelope Cruz won the Best Supporting actor gong for Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
